This beautiful Northern Champion Drafter was built to specifications supplied to Trevor and Daniel by its new owner, Glenn Soroko who lives in the North Island of New Zealand.
Glenn required a saddle with the highest level of durability available as New Zealand has a very high rainfall and the saddle must be able to stand up to these conditions. The "Bullet Proofing" of the saddle started with the tree. It is web strained for comfort but the wood steel tree was completey resin coated to prevent water penetration. The steel of the tree, along with the special horn platform for the detachable horn were rustproofed.
glenn chose to have the Revolving Stirrup bar and along with this fitted the new NEZ-EEZ stirrup swivel. This device when used in conjunction with the rotating stirrup bar eliminates stress on ankles and knees. The swivel turns 360 degrees, is heavy duty, easy to install on any saddle and can be locked into any position.
Glenn does some hunting and asked for the rear flank dee in order to hang any gear on while out shooting. The rear flange was reinforced with aluminium plate and the flank dees screwed through the plate. Its as strong as you can get.
The detachable horn is leather covered and along with the other features help turn this super duty saddle in to a visual work of art.

____________________________________________________________

This Northern Champion Drafter is the first of its kind! US customer Mr Bilger, who already owned a Northern Champion Drafter, decided he would like one with a detachable horn. This had never been done because the shape of the web strained tree did not lend itself to the horn attachment.
Trevor and Daniel got to work and fabricated a horn platform which was welded to the tree. The result is a completely functional horn which can be removed. It was done in such a way as to not interfere with the web straining of the tree.
Another number one and real eye catcher!
