THE SPIN PIN BARREL RACER

                     Plain Version $2600

                  Tooled Version $2750

                       Emu Inlay $2900

This Spin Pin Barrel Racer is headed for outback QLD. The beautifully tooled havana leather is highlighted by the conchos. The conchos are solid brass stars set into a background of stainless steel. The seat is one piece so there is no stitching or seam to wear out or rub. The seat is underlayed with 20 mil of closed cell foam. The panels are genuine merino sheepskin.

This is the ultimate in comfort for horse and rider with the rotating stirrup attachments allowing total freedom of fender movement and eliminating the knee stress often associated with normal western saddles.

The Spin Pin Barrel Racer. You probably wonder why this saddle is called the SPIN PIN. The name Spin Pin refers to the rotating fender attachment invented by Trevor James. The western saddle has remained unchanged in its fender design since its inception over a century ago. The fender in itself is the best you can get. It moves with your leg and does not pinch like the English or Australian style stirrup leather. It is so good that it has been incorporated into the Australian Halfbreed saddles. The drawback of the fender in Western saddles is that the fender passes over the side rail of the tree. This means that it is very restricted in its movement and that the fender strap unless perfectly matched to the recess in the tree will create lumps or hollows to sore up a valuable horse.

The new Rotating Fender attachment is mounted on the top side of the tree so the fender strap does not go around the side rail. The underside of the tree can then be dead smooth. The other draw back of the old style tree is that the fender can not come off the saddle if you are being dragged. With the new attachment the fender will detach from the saddle and release the rider if a fall and drag situation arises. The new attachment is built into the tree on this Spin Pin Barrel Racer.

The saddle pictured has a unique Australian flavour with Emu skin inlay and one off tooling. The saddle is close contact with inskirt rigging. The rigging dee has a leather fender slide over it. This allows the fender friction free movement and it will not catch as it slides over the rigging dee. The seat is blocked in one piece. This means no ridges to rub you or stitch holes to allow water in to the saddle. It is underlaid with 15 mil of shaped close cell foam. Closed cell means that the air trapped inside the cells can not escape and you are in fact riding on an air cushion.

The saddle is beautifully balanced and it is quite short, meaning it suits those shorter type quarter horses, arabs etc and a horse can easily turn around a barrel as it is not restricted by the length of the saddle.

This saddle is designed for close contact, friction free ride. It is the ultimate in horse and rider comfort and the safety provided by the new rotating fender attachment is designed by and exclusive to James Saddlery, Australia

NOTE - While new to western saddles, the revolving stirrup bar or fender attachment has been available on James Saddlery Stock saddles for around 10 years. The Revolver saddles have become legendary in the Australian Outback and many are exported to the US.

The Spin Pin Barrel Racer is the first Western Saddle to feature the new Rotating Fender attachment. The device was invented by Trevor James and is patent pending in 160 countries. The fender attachment is mounted on a steel roller bearing giving the rider perfect balance in any given situation and if a horse stumbles or busts through a hedge into an unsuspected downhill gallop, the riders feet automatically swing forward into the correct position. The saddle featured was made for Equitana and is the trophy saddle for the 2003 Equitana Barrel Race. It was designed and made by Trevor and son, Daniel James for Equitana and has unique Australian Emu Skin inlay. It has a gold edge silver trim. These features, along with the rotating fender attachment make this saddle unique. There is no other Western Saddle the same as this custom made show piece.
