As the name implies, this halfbreed saddle incorporates the best features of the American Western Saddle with the best features of the Australian Stock Saddle.
It has the deep dish seat and knee pad that Australian saddles are noted for. The fender is American style. It moves with and protects the riders leg unlike the old fashioned Australian stirrup leather which tends to pinch. The underside is fleece lined and has a larger surface area than the hair lined Australian saddles. This means less rider pounds per square inch, less chance of soring up a valuable horse. It is beautifully and painstakingly hand tooled with solid brass fittings. The flank girth facility is a solid brass dee also. The Standish is a special production. Each saddle sold by James Saddlery is individually numbered and they are available only in heavier than usual natural skirting leather.
