Western Saddle Trees made to your personal design

       with Rotating Fender Fitting. 

A new fitting designed by Trevor James for Western Saddle Trees allows full front and back fender movement. In the past all American style saddles have been built on trees where the fender strap passes over the side rail. On either side of the side rail there is a slot for the fender strap to sit in. Having the strap pass through this slot allows the underside of the saddle to be smooth against the horses back and the top side smooth against the riders leg. Once located in this slot the big disadvantage has been that when girthed down tight the fender cannot swing freely. 

The new fender fitting is mounted on steel roller bearings. The bearing is pre-lubricated but the assembly can easily be removed for service or replacement. It is recessed into the tree on the topside so a flush fit is obtained for the rider. On the underside the tree is perfectly smooth, as the groove is no longer needed for the fender strap. 

The fittings are independently mounted to give the rider the absolute freedom to gallop up or down hill or to spur either side as required. A rotating Stirrup Bar has also been designed by Trevor James for Fender Stock Saddles. 

The device has been available in Trevor's Stock saddles for some time. Colin Dangaard of the Australian Stock Saddle Company based in California has a Colt Special as his personal saddle. After gruelling test sessions Colin says, "I have never ridden with such freedom before. With the increased fender movement galloping down the steepest hills is routine. The advantage it gives over a normal stock saddle is considerable but the ride given in an American Western Saddle fitted with the rotating fender mechanism is unsurpassed."
